If that’s not a priority for you, agency life might not be a good fit (and that’s okay).

As a mentor once told me, it’s easier to swim downstream- meaning that it’s better to start with essentially the hardest job you can get in your field, hoping that later on you’ll be able to attain more senior positions in start-ups and smaller companies where your experience will allow you to crush it with a certain amount of ease. That doesn’t mean that later work will be “easy” per se, but you might get more comfortable with what others find difficult.

You'll get hands-on experience with the latest marketing tools and techniques, often working alongside seasoned professionals who can mentor you. Surrounding yourself with people doing the same thing with the same attitude can bring out your best. Managing these expectations while delivering quality work can be stressful, and the constant pressure to keep clients happy can be difficult.

Some people aren’t a fit for the high-pressure environment of agency life, which can lead to burnout. The constant need to perform and meet tight deadlines can take time to manage. Agencies often have high employee turnover rates due to stressful working conditions, which affect team dynamics and project continuity. Agencies cater to a diverse clientele, so you might only sometimes work on projects that align with your interests or passions.
